Relief!
So I am feeling asolutely fantastic today. I have long maintained that the greatest sensation in the world... the greatest "high", does not come from drugs, food or sex... but the simple absence of pain. It's something easy to take for granted... I suppose if one looks at the positive side of things, I've been given the opportunity to discover this wonderful sensation. A whole lot. *grin*
I was lucky this time... the migraine was subdued in 2 days. A trip to the chiropractor helped tremendously... I had to have been pinching a nerve in there somewhere. And it's just as well I knocked it out quick... I only have one pill left. Literally. Talk about racin it to the wire. But I ordered my refill last weekend, so it should be showin it's much-anticipated face in the mail sometime soon.
Fleas vs. Me
I'm still takin it easy today, though. The only imperative items on my agenda were a few flea-purging activities... and those are done. Except for the library, but I'll spray down in here once I'm done on the 'puter. I ran a few loads of laundry to wash the removable blankets, furniture covers, etc.; sequestered Ms. Pukesalot here in the library, wrapped a t-shirt around my face and thoroughly sprayed all the carpeting, apholstery and cat furniture in the front room and bedroom; joined the cat in here for about an hour until the aerosol mist had good and settled; then conducted an equally thorough vacuuming. Here's hoping I don't have to do this too many more times. I know I may still have to deal with one or two more manifestations of the flea life cycle. *sigh*
I was worried that being out in the spray might set my head off again but I seem to be pretty good so far. I just talked to Mom, and she's not doin so hot at the moment, so we'll see how we're feeling tomorrow. I do hope we can make the trip... if we do, I should have an interesting array of pics to choose from for next week's photo-of-the week. :)
Money Fun
For the rest of the day, I'll wrap up a few tasks on the 'puter, then mebbe veg in front of the tv or head to Mom's to watch the last movie. I've a few last bills to pay for this month. I only just recently set up web-bill-pay with my bank. I'll say right now it is AWESOME. I avoided it for the longest time, cuz I like keeping close tabs on my bills and paperwork. Plus I still maintain a certain healthy paranoia regarding the security of the internet. But convenience finally won out. I still keep immaculate records... I simply print off my online transactions rather than keeping check duplicates.
I even went so far as to arrange automatic recurring payments to my IRA and credit cards. I've got a bucketload of them (cards, that is)... and all but one or two of them have the sole purpose of holding transferred balances at lower rates until they're paid off. I've got a relatively hefty credit card debt, and have managed to wrangle most of it onto an average of 4% finance charge. Amway, each of these receives the same contribution every bill, so I set up the recurring payments. This also helps the problem of different cards having different due dates throughout the month. There are a couple that are due closer to the beginning of the month, that I've missed a few times cuz the rest of my bills are towards the end. This way, I won't have to worry about them. And, with the cards being paid off automatically, I only really have about 5 other bills to keep tabs of. It's great. :)
I also just recently opened my IRA Mutual Fund. Yeah, I'm beginning to slip and gain a li'l financially responsibility... *sigh* But shhh... don't tell anybody. It would have been better if I'd started it 10 years ago, but 31 is better than 51, right? 'Sides, it had always been my gameplan to wait until the Govt. bonds I bought while I was in the Navy had matured, then cash them in and roll em over into an IRA. And that's precisely what I did. Actually, I only cashed in enough to open the IRA with $1000. The rest, with the higher interest rates, I can keep for another 20 years before they stop accruing interest. Or until I figure out somethin better to do with em.
Drugs
Okee, well I'd best get to those bills. *checkin watch* Oh, and hey... gotta check the mail. Mebbe my drugs are in. I was talkin to the student I share my office with at work, and made an offhand comment about needing to take some drugs, and he said "Well, so long as you're not DOING some drugs."
I guess that's the fine line between an illegal junkie and a legal one, eh? *grin*
