Contemplations

The March of Time

Yeah, it just keeps going. Regardless the disasters, the crises, the insecurities, the dramas, the laughs, the fun… none of it is of any real consequence. Things happen, and then they’re over. In their wake, friendships change… relationships change... jobs change… families change… life changes… the world changes. And then time for new things to happen. I suppose there’s a certain comfort in the inevitable pattern.

I’m not sure what got me to reflecting on this. Mebbe it’s all the different dramas going on around me… many touching me by only a wisp, through the News and/or my friends, but still affecting my life and my outlook. I’ve discussed a few of those dramas in previous posts, so I guess I’ll leave anything else as an ambiguous generalization.

Or mebbe I’m just PMSing. My mood on any given “time of the month” is a crapshoot, and enjoys a wide range. Gotta love hormones. *sigh*

No Such Thing as Smiling Too Much

Amway, not much new today. A couple of humorous conversations...

First Conversation - The Setup: The other day, Mom and I were discussing my home flea problem, and she wanted to know if I’d brought them to work, cuz she’d been bit by something there. Upon my reply that I didn’t know, she suggested I ask the student with whom I share my office. So I asked him “Have you been bit lately?” *snicker* He shot me a rather strange look, but after I explained myself, he responded in the negative.

The Conversation: So today, he comes to work and whatever cologne he normally wears is just a li’l stronger than usual, and keeps making me sneeze. I jokingly tell him I must be allergic to him. He apologizes quite contritely, then immediately zaps back with “Well, at least I don’t have fleas!”

I swear, I was crackin up for about 5 minutes. :)

Second Conversation: Fussbudget and I were discussing how peeps don’t seem to be paying attention to what we’re saying lately and she tells me:

Fussbudget: I remember chica
Me: thanks, chica :)
Me: I DO appreciate that
Fussbudget: I remember that you are supposed to finish telling me a story
Me: lol… this is true
Me: where did I leave off?
Fussbudget: um, well, errrr, I can't remember
Fussbudget: lol
Me: LMAO
Me: *sigh*

Cream Cheese Garden Sammiches

Elsewise, today was a pretty uneventful day. Since Mom has started classes on Mondays, she’s cutting down her lunch hours through the rest of the week, so our Tuesday Lunch Outings have been temporarily suspended. Instead, she and Pop have invited me to join them on their Thursday Lunch Outings. :) So we three went to Breadbasket for lunch today. I still haven’t gotten tired of their Cream Cheese Garden sammiches. Mmmmm. Plus, they're the only place I've found that offers a decent sized glass of milk. Yeah, I'm still a milk fiend... never grew out of it. I prefer it over any other beverage.

Nature on PMS

In the News, it looks like Nature has decided to loom over yet another of my friends… first Hurricanes, then Earthquakes, and now Volcanoes. Seems Mount St. Helens is makin noises about erupting sometime in the near future. And, of course, one of my closest friends, Mikee, happens to be living in Washington at the moment. I swear, I should just collect everybody and move em to Misery. Only thing that happens here is a tornado or two, and those almost always manage to miss Columbia.

Course, now that I say that, we’ll probly get swarm of the suckers tomorrow.

Debates vs. Movie

Tonight’s supposed to be the first big debate between the Presidential Candidates. I’d been interested in seeing at least debate, after I’d watched the Democratic National Convention (I just couldn’t bring myself to watch the Republicans… they honestly just annoy the crap outta me). But now I’m rather tired of the whole thing. Mebbe I’ll catch one of the debates on another day. But tonight, Mom invited me over to watch that last Netflix movie we STILL haven’t seen yet. So lessee… what are my choices: The same political rhetoric that has been saturating the news, ads and commercials, ad nauseum… or a movie?

*weighing*

Movie it is!
