Sunday Traditions

So I'm actually feelin MUCH better this mornin... err... *checkin clock* okee, afternoon. Almost back to 100%. :)

Family Sunday Dinner

In fact, I actually feel like whippin up dessert for tonight's Family Sunday Dinner. Ever since we brought Gram out here, Mom instituted the Family Sunday Dinner tradition. She's really big on family, and loves these sorts of things. And almost from the beginning of this new institution, I was the official dessert-person. And, about once a month, I hostess dinner at my place.

An Unlikely Chef

Of course, the odd thing about this contribution is the fact that, until just about 2 years ago, I abhorred anything to do with the kitchen. My best friend was the microwave. But suddenly: POOF! I was suddenly all kinds of interested in bakin and cookin and all that fun domestic kitchen stuff. Perhaps because I finally recognized it as an outlet for creativity. And if I can be accused of anything, it's being creative.

Unfortunately, as with everything that utilizes my creativity, I have to be in the mood for it. Thank goodness I have a wide range of interests, cuz I frequently either burn out or get bored with one activity or another, and am ready for the next one. Whether it's cooking/baking, writing, photography, graphic design, scrapbooking, drafting my dreamhouse, music, needlework, etc.

Burnout

A frequent burnout problem is when I start making an obligation out of any given activity. As in... whether or not I'm in the mood for it, I feel I HAVE to do it. And that SO doesn't work. Which is why I have not pursued any or all of these interests as a career. I never want to hate something I love to do because I have to force the creative juices.

So it was inevitable that my cooking/baking would fall to the old pattern. In fact, I've been pretty burnt out on it for several months now. I think it's an excellent sign that I'm in the mood for it again, though. I think perhaps I won't make it a weekly thing in the future... just when I'm in the mood to whip somethin up. It'll be a surprise!

Something Soothing

Amway, I'm currently perusing online recipe sites for mebbe some kind of mint pie. Both Mom and I have had iffy stomaches lately, and that should be soothing.

Of course, if I'm gonna get any of this accomplished, I suppose I oughtta wrap up bloggin for today, grab a shower, run to the store (among other errands) and bake a pie. I'm sure I'll have somethin to ramble about tomorrow. :)
