Whose Hat is This Anyway?

Work Hats

So I got to wear another of my diverse assortment of hats at work today, and have stayed pretty busy. See, when I was hired here, I was not only required to learn The Retiree's job, but that of all of the other support staff in the department as well. I can fill in as back-up for everybody. Including Mom. So when she needed to take a Sanity Day today, I got to don her hat.

I usually stay relatively busy on my own responsibilities alone... and frequently fill in for one person or another on a regular basis. But it's great... keeps me on my toes, gives my brain a good work-out, and convinces those who decide my employment future that I'm actually worth keepin around... lol

Documents Coordinator

In brief synopsis, Mom is Keeper of the Documents Center. As you may imagine, construction involves a LOT of documents and drawings, large and small... and somebody's gotta keep track of it all. Mom keeps a tight ship... which is no surprise. I mean, imagine the organized mind that had to have spawned such an organized daughter? ;) Amway, anytime somebody needs some drawings or specs on any given project, hardcopy or digital, the Document Center's the place to go.

Of course, almost every time I fill in for Mom, a new kind of request comes in that I haven't dealt with before. But it's all good. I have a pretty good grasp of how most things work in there, so if I don't persactly know what needs to be done, I back it up to something I DO know how to do and work from there. I can usually accomplish whatever task is needed... it just may take a slightly circuitous route to completion. Plus, if all else fails, I know the Document Coordinator's home phone and have full license to bug her. *grin* In fact, she even picked me up for our usual Tuesday lunch out. :)

Relaxing Tonight

The day has flown by pretty quickly. I hope to relax tonight... I'm SO glad I took yesterday afternoon off to finish up some of my errands. Mebbe I'll play with my new toy (dig cam)... never got around to it last night. The movie was pretty long. Good flick, though: The Pianist. True story that takes place in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII, and encourages the viewer to look past typecasts within race or group and consider the good and bad within us all. I'm always a fan of movies that give a glimpse of humanity amidst a whole lotta wrong. Though, I usually gotta be in the mood for some heavy fare for those.

Amway, another task from yet another hat just landed in my lap, so I'll wrap this up for today. Have a great evening. :)
