Spongebob & Rood Neighbors

So I just have a few things I wanna get down this mornin before I forget em.

Spongebob... Fashionably Late

Yesterday, I came home to a package at my front door. I'd forgotten that Fussbudget told me a few days ago to look for one. And lo and behold, there were my Spongebob Mardi Gras beads she collected for me from a parade (I think it was in her home town)... oh, at least a year ago. lol She'd been intending to send it to me for the longest, but never got around to it.

Of course, I can totally relate. The year I moved into the apartment I'm in now (oh, about 2 1/2 years ago, in June) IHOP Buddy and Hubby came up to help with the move. During a break, IHOP Buddy was lamenting her lack of a calendar for her kitchen that year. Now, I get them a calendar every year (among other things) and I distinctly recalled having bought one for them THAT year. So I said "You have a calendar!" She figured she'd know if she had a calendar hanging up in her kitchen, so she had to disagree with me on that. And I was like "Well, I KNOW I bought you one..." and proceeded to recall that I never got around to taking their Christmas package to them the year before. *snicker* Oops.

Oh well... she's done the same, so we're even. *grin*

Amway, I'm gonna have to put my anti-social streak on hiatus so I can thank Fussbudget. The beads really are quite adorable... dorky, but adorable. But then... that's Spongebob!

Am I Turning Into the Cranky Old Lady Downstairs?

Being in a college town, I go through a lotta neighbors. There's a rather high turnover rate for the student tenants in my building. So I just got a new batch this school year. I normally don't have many problems (except for the flea issue that just popped up) but I have to imagine one of my new building-mates is a member of a band. Specifically the drummer. I have heard them on several nights. And I postulate that it's a band, rather than an entertainment system, cuz I hear the exact same song... frequently the exact same refrain, over and over and over and over (and over and over and over and over) again. I happened to be in a band, myself, in San Diego just before I joined the Navy, so I recognize the practice patterns.

Amway, sometimes all I hear is a drumset. Now, the sound doesn't come through the walls with the full LOUD force of a drumset... but it can still be heard (and frequently felt) quite distinctly. Unfortunately, the only time this individual (and/or his/her band) seems to finds to practice is usually around 11 or 12 at night. Weeknights or weekends. I swear, I'd already fallen asleep last night, and awoke... not the drums, but to Ms. Pukesalot goin APESHIT over the stupid things. I have to admit they WERE a rather unsettling rhythm. Fortunately, it didn't last for TOO long, she settled down and I fell back asleep.

The issue crept into my sleep, though. I dreamed I was bitchin about it to Mom, and this guy overheard and came over to apologize. Wouldn't it be great if it could be worked out like that? I dunno if I have the gumption to actually go through all of my neighbors to find out who's makin all the noise... and then ask them to stop. Though, I know it would be the most straightforward way to go about the dilemma. However, it'd be MUCH easier to simply report the noise disturbance to my landlord. We'll see how it goes. If it gets worse, then I'll figure out what to do then.

Measurements

I noticed this morning that the Design Services Dept. were over here takin measurements to take down a wall... one of the many things they'll be doin to reconfigure our work space up here. And then I'll be movin to my OWN space. Woo-hoo! This li'l office can get a bit crowded, what with any or all three of our students bein in here for one thing or another. I can never get a straight answer as to when it will be done, but at least progress is being made. Now all I gotta do is get some answers about when I'll be made permanent.

Moving?

Which will effect part of my decision about my move. I mean, I'm fairly sure they intend to make my position permanent... it's just the amount of raise (if any) that's under review. Which, they're putting off the first item until they confirm the second one, cuz it's much easier to accomplish both at once.

Amway, the issue of a raise (or not) will definately have an impact on my decision about if or when I decide to move. There's a LOT of other factors, of course. I mean, I would need to work around my rent lease, which is up in June. I could try to start the job hunting process after the first of the year, if I wanted to try to move by June. However, it would be a much more financially sound decision to stay for at least a year to start saving a decent chunk of money, rather than sending myself even further into debt with the move. Of course, it would be the MOST financially sound decision to wait it out a few years to get my credit card debts completely outta the way. I'll most probly sit down this weekend and figure up a new possible fiscal gameplan. A lot of options to consider.

I'm figurin not to put any major plans or thought into the matter until after I see Halloween Nut in a few weeks... kind of evaluate for myself how she's doin. If she's holdin together okay, I'd probly lean towards saving money for a year. Not that I labor under the misconception that I could solve all her problems... I just think she can use all the support and help she can get.

And that just happens to be my forte. :)

Excellent point! lol

However, the calendar was only a half a year late, so she still got to use it for at least 6 months! *grin*

Excuse me.. *raises hand*

The cheapskate in me would like to point out.. that you could've saved yourself a lot of money- since most calendars go on sale a few months (and definately after 6 months) into the present year.....

So if you're not going to gift for a while.. wait til it goes on sale..:) and then just chalk it up to forgetfulness....
